ശ്രീ ആലപ്പി രങ്കനാഥ്: 1949-ല്‍ ആലപ്പുഴയിലെ മുല്ലയ്ക്കല്‍ ജനിച്ചു. ഇപ്പോള്‍കോട്ടയത്ത്സ്ഥിരതാമസമാക്കികൊണ്ട് കോട്ടയം ജില്ല കേന്ദ്രമാക്കി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു വരുന്നു.സംഗീതം,നൃത്തം,മൃദംഗം എന്നിവ ഗുരുകുല സമ്പ്രദായത്തില്‍ അഭ്യസിച്ചു.നിരവധി തമിഴ്,തെലുങ്ക് ചിത്രങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് വേണ്ടി ശ്രീമാന്‍ ജോസഫ്‌ കൃഷ്ണയുടെ കീഴില്‍ സംഗീത വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു. ജീസസ് എന്ന സിനിമയ്ക്ക് സംഗീതം നല്‍കിക്കൊണ്ട് സിനിമയില്‍ സജീവമായി. ശ്രീ. യേശുദാസിന്‍റെ തരംഗിണി സ്റ്റുഡിയോയില്‍ സ്റ്റാഫ്‌ മ്യൂസിക്‌ ഡയറക്ടര്‍ പദവിയിലേക്ക് തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു . ഗാനരചയിതാവ് എന്ന നിലയിലും തിളങ്ങിയ ഈ മലയാളം വിദ്വാന്‍ 500 ഗാനങ്ങളോളം രചിച്ചു. "സ്വാമിസംഗീതം ആലപിക്കും " എന്ന പ്രശസ്ത അയ്യപ്പ ഭക്തിഗാനം രചനയും സംഗീതവും നടത്തിയത് ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ 252 ഗാനങ്ങള്‍ ഗാനഗന്ധര്‍വനുവേണ്ടി മാത്രം സംഗീതം പകര്‍ന്നു .42 പ്രഫഷണല്‍ നാടകങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് രചനയും സംവിധാനവും നിര്‍വ്വഹിച്ചു. പ്രഗത്ഭരായ കവികളുടെയും ഗാനരചയിതാക്കളുടെയും ഗാനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മധുര സംഗീതം പകരുകയും തെന്നിന്ത്യയിലെ പ്രശസ്ത ഗായകര്‍ ആലാപനം നടത്തുകയുംചെയ്തു. വിവിധങ്ങളായ കലകളില്‍ പ്രാവീണ്യമുള്ള ശ്രീ.ആലപ്പി രങ്കനാഥിനു കേന്ദ്രസാംസ്കാരിക വകുപ്പിന്‍റെ ഉള്‍പ്പെടെ നിരവധി പുരസ്ക്കാരങ്ങള്‍ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇപ്പോള്‍ ദര്‍ശന ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ആര്‍ട്ട്സ് റിസര്‍ച്ച് സെന്‍റര്‍ ജനറല്‍ സെക്രട്ടറിയായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു .
